The story about your dad was very inspirational. A lesson for all us to learn is that achieving success has nothing to do with clothes, cars, big houses in the ‘burbs and ridin’ on dubs. True success is measured by being a blessing to your family and other’s by using your God given abilities/resources therefore honoring God and advancing His Kingdom on earth. Thanks Rosita! It seems that everyone who spends time with our dad or hear about him find amusement and inspiration from his stories and his no-nonsense delivery. Wow Emily I never knew this about you…. That is a great story. I am really proud of your dad and he is not even my father. I admire him based on what you have disclosed about him. He should have his own reality show or book on how to be a real father and man! Some of these young men need it…..

Wow, Tasheka, no wonder we can always relate to one another! I, too, had to collect the chicken eggs, wash them, and often COOK them! But thankfully, my daddy didn’t require us to wake up at the crack of dawn to do so! Sounds like your dad also had an admirable, albeit rigorous work ethic. I’m sure both of our dads would get along so well! Thanks so much for sharing!

Emily, our dad reminds me a lot of my dad. My dad was too a farmer and we had many livestock growing up. I remember when I was a young girl in Jamaica my three brothers and sister and I had to wake up early in the morning (before the crack of dawn) and heard all the goats and clean out the pig trouts and collect the chicken eggs. It was hard labour but I think it taught us a lot of discipline. My father did not attend college as well, but he prides himself on the physical labor that he can perform. I wish I had some of my fathers work ethics. He always said that the more education we get the lazier we get ( that might be true in my case). Our father’s stories are both inspiring and I only hope to gain a little piece of their dedication and passion for the simplier things in life!
